Wairere Boulders is a park built by Felix and Rita Schaad between 1999 and 2003 now offering walks trough the only basalt rock valley in the world composed with blocks that are chemically eroded on the surface. They look like karst on limestone but they are actually basalt. The valley is composed of thousands of basalt boulders, with sizes up to 30 m, stacked on top of each other.
